Traveling During the Holidays

Lauryn Chandler

Traveling systems have improved greatly over the years because of the amount of people who travel during the holidays. It is estimated by AAA that forty-six million people will travel over fifty miles to be with family and friends for Thanksgiving. That is the highest number in about seven years. Even though the weather was an obstacle for some people around the country, it did not stop them from trying to reach their destinations by any means. About fifty thousand people had delays that were caused by the weather conditions. This was upsetting to some people on the busiest travel day of the season. It was said by NBC that the train stations were very busy right before Thanksgiving. I think it is difficult to travel when transportation systems are very busy; however, people want to be with their friends and family members. To me, it is important for the systems to develop safety rules to keep everyone healthy and to get them to their destinations. Are you traveling safely?

Traveling With a Budget
Lauryn Chandler

When you travel do you try to not spend a bunch of money? It is important to make a budget when you travel, so all of your money is not spent. Also, you need to know the currency ratio from the countries you are traveling to and from. It can be difficult to understand the different currencies, so make sure you get it before you get there. Another thing people want badly when they travel is Wifi. Many people will not travel to a place if it does not have good internet connections. I believe that the internet has become a big part in many people's lives, so they believe that they are not able to live without it. I also believe that by creating a budget people will spend an amount of money they are comfortable with spending. The next time you are thinking about traveling somewhere look at their currency and form a budget for yourself.

Where are People Traveling to?
Lauryn Chandler
Have you ever wondered which countries around the world people are traveling to? The top ten global destinations include: United States, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Russia, China, and Greece. These countries are some of the most frequently traveled places. One of Ravenstein's laws of migration are shown in the graph shown below. Most people who are traveling transcontinental, are people traveling by themselves. Asia- Pacific is the most common place for independent travelers to go. Latin America is where most couples go, and Europe is traveled to by families. I think people are traveling by themselves for work and better jobs. In current years companies are distributed to places around the world, so people must travel to where the other plants are located. Also, people are willing to go to other countries in order to find better job opportunities. Not many families travel to other countries all together because is can be tough to travel with them, and it can get to be very expensive. Where will you travel to and with who?

 Stealing From Tourists

In Vancouver over the last couple of days, some people are dressing up like police officers, and stealing money from tourists. There have been about six reported cases on these incidents in two days. The fake officers are stopping tourists in this Canadian city and stealing their money by demanding for them to hand over their wallets and passports. The tourists state they gave back their wallets a few minutes after they confiscated it, but all of their money was gone. Some also said the fake police officers showed them their fake badges. The real police officers are being required to show photo identification. I believe that the people stealing the money from tourists should feel really bad for tricking them. The genuine police officers should be working hard to catch these criminals. The experiences of the tourists was most likely not near as good as it would have been if they did not get their money stolen. For anyone traveling in the future, be very careful around your surroundings in the foreign places you are staying in because anyone at any time can come along and take your belongings from you.

Beach in the Winter?

Why would anybody go to a certain place without knowing what the weather will mainly be? Most people would not book a trip to the beach in South Carolina in the winter, or a trip to a ski resort in Colorado in July. It is important to know the weather conditions before you book a trip to somewhere, especially because most people book their trips well in advance. It would not be a good vacation if someone went to Disney World and it rained every day during Florida's rainiest month. Although places have big deals during specific seasons, check out the weather during that time period because it probably has some kind of weather factor people do not like to vacation in, at that location. I think that if you schedule a vacation and find out later it is during a season one would not want to be there in, then reschedule it so it is a better experience. So before you book a vacation, make sure the weather is usually the right climate for that specific vacation spot, and not something you would not want to be in, that would ruin the trip.
